Microneedling
(Procell)

What is Procell Microneedling?

Microneedling is a non-surgical means of skin rejuvenation. Over time, skin on the face will lose collagen and elastin. These re two of the most crucial building blocks that produce youthful looking and healthy skin and tissue.

This innovative technique can help deliver long-lasting improvements in the following

  • Stretch marks
  • Wrinkles and fine lines
  • Hyperpigmentation and acne scars
  • Skin tightening and skin tone enhancement

Procell coupled with microneedling brings together the innovative microneedling with human stem cell science. This has been proven to deliver results that are more favorable when you compare them to chemical peels and abrasive lasers.

How Does Microneedling with Procell Work?

The process involves the tips of the microneedling to penetrate deep into the outer layers of the skin (epidermis). These create micro-channels, which result in tiny perforations in the keratinocytes. Once this occurs, it allows the Procell serum to deeply penetrate the skin.

The entire process stimulates growth factors, and aids in releasing natural elastin and collagen production. By using the micro-channels, the body will absorb the Procell serum by up to 340% faster than a topical application of creams.

Will I Need a Consultation?

There will still be a requirement for a consultation with Dr. Z prior to this procedure. He will run through the details and which areas of the body can be treated. He will examine the areas which require treatment, and take the before pictures for reference, and as a comparison once the treatment has been undertaken.

As a precaution, he will run through all the same checks on medical history to be sure there is nothing that can affect the results. One of the most significant concerns being sensitive skin. Patients must also have no history of eczema, psoriasis, any skin infections, or medications, which are immunosuppressive.

Because there is some mild discomfort during the procedure, it is often a recommendation to use a topical anesthetic to minimize the discomfort. Dr. Zuriarrain will advise which one to use, and when this needs application before your procedure.

How Many Treatments Will I Need?

This will depend on the patient and the areas being treated. The recommendation is between three and six treatments with a sufficient gap between each visit. However, some patients may find one or two is sufficient.

If a patient is seeking treatment for acne scars and deep wrinkles, then the full quota of treatments will be necessary.

One thing worthy of noting is there is no limit of treatments a patient can have as long as they keep to the recommended rest periods.

What Happens After Procell Microneedling?

While this is not an invasive procedure, it does deliver maximum skin stimulation, which can lead to swelling. This inflammation can prevail for up to 24-hours. Patients tend to describe the feeling after the procedure like being burned by the sun.

After 90-minutes, topical creams can be applied to the skin once the micro-channels have time to tighten and close.

Dr. Zuriarrain will recommend one day for recovery, and one more day of downtime for most patients, yet if there are signs the swelling may last longer, he will advise accordingly. Most patients can return to regular activities after a couple of days.

If venturing outdoors, sun protection creams should be used because the skin may still be sensitive from the microneedling.
