Labiaplasty Miami

What is Labiaplasty?

Labiaplasty – vaginal rejuvenation. Labiaplasty is a surgical vaginal rejuvenation procedure that aims to improve the size and shape of the inner labia. It involves trimming off the excess tissue of the labia minora, leaving the labia majora (outer labia) intact.

One of the worst things for any woman is to feel uncomfortable in her body. This can have a serious effect on confidence. When this area contains something as intimate as the appearance of their labia, it can easily cause daily frustration.

The impact on self-confidence leads to frustration. Sex drive and discomfort when performing some activities have a major impact on a woman’s life when she can’t perform them as she wishes. Labiaplasty can help resolve these issues by reducing the size of the labia to something that can be smaller and thinner resulting in a more comfortable size, shape and appearance.

Who is a candidate for Labiaplasty?

Any woman bothered by the aesthetic or functional aspects of their inner labia may be considered for labiaplasty in Miami. The anatomy of the labia can differ vastly from person to person. Some of the most frequently cited reasons women choose to undergo inner labiaplasty include:

  • Darkly colored labia
  • Folds or irregular edges
  • Excess inner labia that protrude past the labia majora
  • Asymmetric labia with more tissue on one side than the other

Healthy nonsmokers who have realistic expectations are the best candidates for labiaplasty. To find out if a Miami labiaplasty is right for you and learn about your options, schedule your private consultation with Dr. Zuriarrain at Zuri Plastic Surgery today.

The Labiaplasty Procedure

What happens during a Labiaplasty Procedure?

Also known as vaginal rejuvenation, a labiaplasty procedure aims to resolve all her issues regarding discomfort. To achieve this, there will be a reduction in the size of the labia minora so it will no longer reach below the labia majora.

In some cases, one is longer than the other is, so this procedure corrects this asymmetry. Nevertheless, the more common procedure is to reduce both in length. This procedure will be performed under local anesthesia, and is a quick operation. It can be completed in around an hour.

Dr. Zuriarrain performs labiaplasty in a private AAAASF-accredited surgical institute. General or local anesthesia with oral sedation provides total comfort during the procedure. The choice of anesthesia depends on the type and extent of surgical correction. He marks and resects the excess inner labia tissue with either a trim labiaplasty or wedge technique to improve labial smoothness, contour, and symmetry. Incisions are made where there is to be excess tissue removal. This tissue removal also helps with evening out the edges of the labia minora. Once Dr. Zuriarrain finishes trimming the labia, sutures close the incisions. These will dissolve by themselves over the following weeks.

Labiaplasty Recovery

What happens following Labiaplasty?

This procedure will be over in no time, yet there is still the chance of some discomfort. Aside from painkillers that Dr. Zuriarrain can prescribe, he will also explain how to use an ice pack to ease pain and reduce any swelling.

These packs need to be sandwiched between underwear and an elastic garment to hold them in place. During application, they need to be used in rotations of twenty minutes on and twenty minutes off to prevent numbing of the genitalia.

Swelling, spotting, and tenderness are common in the first week or two after labiaplasty. The exact recovery time can vary as every woman heals differently. Laying down with the buttocks raised can also ease swelling. Good news for patients receiving labiaplasty, Miami plastic surgeon Dr. Z will leave no visible signs of surgery once healing is complete.

Most patients return to light work and social activities in approximately two to five days. Full recovery takes up to six weeks. Intercourse and using tampons can commence after around six weeks once most of the swelling subsides. Miami labiaplasty patients have over a 90% satisfaction rate with the results.

Labiaplasty FAQs

How can I improve the appearance of the outer labia?

Fat grafting is an excellent option to correct atrophy or deflation of the labia majora that occurs due to aging, pregnancy, hormonal changes such as menopause, or significant weight loss. Dr. Zuriarrain may combine an inner labiaplasty with outer labial fat grafting to create a more harmonious and youthful intimate area overall.

Will it hurt?

Dr. Zuriarrain performs labiaplasty with a general or local anesthetic, so there is no pain during the procedure. It is normal to feel sore in the recovery period, although most patients find prescribed analgesics greatly minimize discomfort.

What are the risks?

Even a minor surgical procedure such as labiaplasty comes with risks. Possible complications may include scarring, infection, nerve damage, wound dehiscence, infection, necrotic tissue, blood clots, hematoma, and dissatisfaction with the cosmetic results. As a quadruple board-certified Miami plastic surgeon, Dr. Zuriarrain is well equipped to manage any complications that might arise.

When is it safe to have sex after labiaplasty?

Vaginal sex is off-limits for six weeks to allow the labia to heal properly.

When can I exercise after labiaplasty?

Physical exertion is restricted for six weeks. Returning to the gym sooner may result in wound healing problems, inflammation, uncontrolled bleeding, and a slower recovery.

Do I need to have someone drive me home because of anesthesia?

It is not safe to drive for at least 24 hours after surgery due to the sedative effects of general anesthesia. Someone must be present to drive you home.
