Sultry Curves Look Good on You

Liposuction is incredibly effective at removing fat cells from stubborn areas that haven't slimmed down despite exercise or dieting. Instead of simply discarding the fat, you may be able to have the fat grafted into your breasts. This two-step procedure, called Fat Transfer Breast Augmentation, is a "natural" alternative to breast implants with results that look and feel supremely natural.

What is Fat Transfer Breast Augmentation?

Fat Transfer Breast Augmentation is a dual procedure involving liposuction and fat grafting. Initially, the surgeon performs liposuction to remove excess fat from common trouble spots like the thighs, abdomen, or flanks. After cleansing the fat cells, they inject the fat into the breast for an average increase of one or two bra cup sizes.

Benefits of Fat Transfer Breast Augmentation

Women who undergo Fat Transfer Breast Augmentation in Miami enjoy two body-shaping benefits in one procedure.

Extracting fat not only slenderizes and tones the physique but also makes clothes fit better. The second part of the procedure, transferring fat to the breasts, enhances the breast size and profile, whether the breasts are naturally small or have lost volume due to aging, breastfeeding, or weight loss. Compared to traditional augmentation with breast implants, the grafted fat often looks and feels more realistic. Best of all, the fat graft becomes a part of your living tissue. Therefore, there is no need to undergo breast implant removal and replacement in the future, potentially saving money and downtime.

Fat Transfer Breast Augmentation Candidates

Prime candidates for Miami Fat Transfer Breast Augmentation are non-smokers, not pregnant or breastfeeding, and in good overall health.

The procedure is generally not a good option for thin patients without excessive subcutaneous fat for harvesting. Likewise, patients interested in going up more than one or two bra cup sizes may do better with traditional breast implants since the results of breast fat grafting tend to be subtler.

Your Fat Transfer Breast Augmentation Consultation

Choosing between breast implants and Fat Transfer Breast Augmentation can be confusing. The only way to confidently determine what is right for you is to speak to a qualified plastic surgeon. During your consultation at our gorgeous Miami office, Dr. Z will examine you privately, listen to what cosmetic concerns bother you most, and develop a bespoke surgical plan tailored to your needs.

If you have breast sagging, Dr. Z may discuss combining a breast lift (mastopexy) with breast fat transfer. You will receive detailed information about the procedure, preparation, aftercare, potential risks, and what to expect as you heal. Before the operation, patients may need to complete lab work, quit tobacco, and avoid medications and supplements that thin the blood.

Fat Transfer Breast Augmentation Procedure

You will receive general anesthesia or twilight sedation, depending on the extent of your liposuction. Dr. Z first performs liposuction to surgically extract fat from areas such as the thighs, abdomen, or flanks, depending on what you discussed during your consultation. After harvesting the fat, a centrifuge (revolving canister) or filtration system separates and purifies the fat cells. Next, he loads the fat into small syringes and artistically injects the fat into each breast, focusing on areas with inadequate volume.

Results, Recovery, and Aftercare

You may feel well enough to resume working within the first week, but a full recovery can take one month or longer.

You can expect your breasts and liposuction areas to feel sore, swollen, numb, and achy, especially during the first few days. Much of the swelling, firmness, discomfort, and bruising subside within the first month. Dr. Z may prescribe pain relievers or advise you to take over-the-counter medication. He will ask you to wear compression garments and a surgical bra for the first few weeks. Sleeping on your back or side will be most comfortable. Within four to six weeks, you should start feeling more like yourself again, and your surgeon may clear you for increased physical activity.

Breast Recovery and Results

What you see initially is not your final result. Your breasts may appear excessively full immediately afterward. This is largely due to swelling. Not all of the grafted fat cells will survive.

Your final results will begin to emerge as inflammation resolves and the nonviable fat cells flush out over the first three to six months. Patients should allow one year to assess their final breast fat transfer results. Most patients gain one or two bra cup sizes after the procedure.

If you desire a dramatic size increase, breast implants are likely the better option. The fat graft is living tissue. Therefore, your breasts may decrease in size if you lose weight.

Liposuction Recovery and Results

It takes several months for swelling in the liposuction areas to go down. Much inflammation subsides within six weeks, but you should wait at least six months to appreciate your final liposuction results. The fat cells will not grow back after liposuction, but the remaining fat cells may enlarge if you are not careful about minding your calorie intake and getting regular exercise.
